ABOUT

I received by PhD in Biology at Northern Illinois University, with applied restoration ecology experience. I am interested in how land management impacts native flora and fauna, how we can better manage land, communicating the importance of management to all stakeholders, and how this management can be tailored to increase ecosystem functioning and biodiversity, in the context of a changing climate. My graduate research focused specifically on bison grazing and prescribed fire and their impact on community composition and nest success of grassland birds. This research involved field work, GIS, and remote sensing. My broader interests include continued long-term research, work that is directly focused on land management, stewardship, and community outreach.
